Chopard LUC Quattro Spirit 25 makes its grand debut
Special limited edition white gold watch with black enamel dial.
As part of Chopard’s slew of new launches for Watches & Wonders 2024, the brand has announced a limited edition version of its existing LUC Quattro Spirit 25, featuring a white gold case and a black enamel dial. Only 100 pieces will be produced, and this LE watch is a replacement for the previous limited edition LUC Quattro Spirit 25, which featured a rose gold case and white enamel dial.
This jumping hour LUC Quattro Spirit 25 is 40 mm wide and 10.3 mm thick. The case is made of Chopard’s own 18-karat white gold. The dial also has a white gold base and is treated with black grand feu enamel. The deep black dial sets off simple text, a central minute hand and outer minute track, and a large digital jumping hour display at six o'clock. The LUC Quattro Spirit 25 is water-resistant to 50 meters and comes on a black alligator leather strap with a white gold buckle.
Underneath the black enamel dial we find the special movement of the Chopard Quattro collection, named for its use of four barrels and the resulting huge power reserve of 192 hours. Forget a dress watch that can sit idle over the weekend; this LUC model can last a full eight days. Originally launched for Chopard's 25th anniversary as the LUC 98-06-L, the movement is manually wound at 4 Hz and proudly bears the Hallmark of Geneva.
Being a LUC model, the movement is beautifully crafted and even has a completely functional case back, as it allows you to see the power reserve indicator integrated into the back of the movement.
Chopard’s LUC series was my first personal exposure to legitimate high-end mechanical watchmaking, ever since I first wore the LUC Perpetual Twin when visiting Baselworld nearly ten years ago. I've been fascinated by their creations since I got them on my wrist. With watches like the LUC Quattro Spirit 25, I think Chopard continues to offer something truly special and exciting both in terms of aesthetics (the jumping hour watch is gorgeous in my opinion) and passable haute horlogerie.
In this regard, the novelty of the jumping hours combined with the overall complexity and specifications of the movement make for a watch with unique appeal, highlighting many of the factors that make Chopard an interesting competitor in the high-end market.
