INDIANAPOLIS - Ryan Grigson is putting the ball squarely in the NFLs court. The Colts general manager has gone silent on the hottest topic in the NFL ahead of next weeks Super Bowl: whether the New England Patriots intentionally deflated footballs in Sundays 45-7 victory over Indianapolis that gave them the AFC championship and a trip to Arizona to face Seattle.Everything, Im sure is going to come out in the investigation, guys. Like I said, its not appropriate for me to talk about. I cant do that, Grigson said Friday when asked if the Colts notified the league about a potential deflation problem. Its in the leagues hands. Im sorry.Grigson spoke shortly before the NFL said that evidence shows the Patriots used underinflated footballs during the first half of the game. The league said it wants to find out whether deliberate action was to blame, but provided no timetable for doing so.Underinflated balls in theory could provide an advantage because they would be easier to throw and catch. Under league rules, each team provides balls for use on offence. The balls used by the Patriots were properly inflated for the second half and remained properly inflated after the game, the NFL said. There have been various reports as to how league officials became aware of the situation and whether Indianapolis tipped them off. Nobody in the Colts organization has confirmed those details.Last week, Indianapolis coach Chuck Pagano said he had spoken to the Ravens staff and NFL officiating chief Dean Blandino about the unusual formation New England used during a divisional-round win over Baltimore. Pagano had worked on John Harbaughs staff in Baltimore before taking the Colts job early in 2012.On Monday, Pagano also acknowledged he had spoken with the refs before kickoff against New England, though he did not say whether the air pressure in the footballs came up during the discussion.New England coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady have said they didnt know what happened and that they were waiting for the league to complete its investigation. Apparently, so is everyone else.Colts linebacker DQwell Jackson told reporters Thursday at the Pro Bowl that he gave the ball he intercepted to an equipment manager and that he noticed no difference than other game balls. Jackson said he still hasnt gotten the ball back. And Grigson wanted nothing to do with the story. Before we get started, let me cut you off at the pass. Its obviously, like Ive told all you guys, its in the leagues hands, he said as he began the annual post-season news conference. Thats where were at right now.Grigson did shed some light on other topics, though. He confirmed that running back Trent Richardson, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft, had been suspended two games for personal reasons. Richardson was inactive for the divisional-round win at Denver and last weekends loss against the Patriots. Grigson did not provide further details. As for possible retirements, Grigson said the Colts are not pushing receiver Reggie Wayne or defensive end Cory Redding to make quick decisions and suggested both could still be valuable players next season if they come back.Grigson also said that while the Colts do intend to offer a new contract to Andrew Luck, re-signing the Pro Bowl quarterback is not the top priority this off-season. Lucks original deal runs through 2015, and its a foregone conclusion that the Colts will exercise the fifth-year option to keep him in Indy through at least 2016.So what is Indys biggest off-season priority?Finding a way to get past their biggest nemesis, the Patriots. New England has not only beaten Luck four straight times and eliminated the Colts each of the past two seasons, theyve also rushed for 657 yards and 13 touchdowns in the last three games.I think the (Chicago) Bulls were at that point one time before they started their run. You know, they had to learn to beat the Pistons, the Bad Boys, Grigson said. I think thats where were at. I think we have to figure out, be able to pinpoint those areas because sometimes its not just what you think. Its more than meets the eye.___Online:AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/ap_nflSteve Nash Jersey . Argentina, who have yet to beat New Zealand in 17 meetings, rocked the All Blacks with an early converted try to backrower Juan Manuel Leguizamon and led 7-0 after five minutes. But Smiths double in the 23rd and 26th minutes - when Argentina was reduced to 14 men by the sin-binning of hooker Eusebio Guinazu - turned the tide of the match and set up New Zealands third straight Championship win. Bale has had a successful debut season in Spain, and Ancelotti appears ready to reward him with a starting role on Saturday. Ancelotti says "Gareth had some problems at the beginning (of the season) but when he found good physical condition he scored a lot of goals, he had a good impact on the team. Ray Spalding Jersey . The former central defender calmly nodded it down and quietly went about celebrating a win with his staff. For a man who has had a lot on his shoulders this season, it was an appropriate moment. The first Sunday of the NFL season was a costly one for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pro Bowl centre Maurkice Pouncey ripped up his right knee and linebacker Larry Foote ruptured his biceps during Pittsburghs 16-9 home loss to Tennessee, likely sidelining both players for the rest of the season. "Nobody cares about our problems," Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said. "Theyre glad weve got them. We need to understand that. We need to stick together and persevere. The Giants and Cowboys each lost a prominent cornerback during their Sunday night showdown. New Yorks Prince Amukamara sustained a concussion in the first half and Morris Claiborne of Dallas was forced out in the third quarter with a shoulder problem. Claiborne later returned to the game. Kansas City running back Jamaal Charles and Jacksonville quarterback Blaine Gabbert each departed the Chiefs 28-2 victory due to injuries. Charles left in the third -- after getting sandwiched by linebackers Geno Hayes and Paul Posluszny -- and returned for two carries before calling it a day in the fourth. He had 77 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries before the quadriceps injury. "He did go back in for a play after he got stepped on, then we pulled him out," Kansas City coach Andy Reid said. "It was a quad and you dont mess with those. I think hes going to be OK." Gabbert cut the back of his right hand on a defenders facemask in the closing minutes and needed 15 stitches. He threw two interceptions while playing with a hairline fracture in his right tthumb.dddddddddddd Carolina lost starting right guard Garry Williams to a left knee injury in the first quarter of a 12-7 loss to Seattle, and Detroit finished a 34-24 victory against Minnesota without Jason Fox after the offensive tackle departed with a groin injury. "It doesnt look good," Panthers coach Ron Rivera said about Williams injury. With Williams out, Carolina rotated Chris Scott, Travelle Wharton and Jeff Byers in at the two guard spots. Corey Hilliard replaced Fox for the Lions. New Orleans got a big 23-17 victory against Atlanta, but lost three defenders due to injuries. Coach Sean Payton did not provide an update on nose tackle Brodrick Bunkley (right leg), defensive end Tyrunn Walker (left leg) and cornerback Patrick Robinson (undisclosed leg injury) after the game. Buffalo coach Doug Marrone also did not provide any information on wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, who did not return after hurting his right hand late in the first half of the Bills 23-21 loss to the Patriots. Miami cornerback Dimitri Patterson and Indianapolis tight end Dwayne Allen each had a nice day before leaving their respective games with injuries. Patterson had two of the Dolphins three interceptions in a 23-10 victory at Cleveland. But he departed in the second half with a groin injury. Allen caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Andrew Luck in the second quarter of the Colts 21-17 win against Oakland. It was his only reception of the game; he left in the second half due to a hip injury. ' ' '
